Step into the soul of showjumping with the Global Amateur Tour’s exclusive German training experience. Set in the idyllic German countryside — long regarded as the mecca of equestrian sport — this tour offers a rare opportunity to train on high-quality borrowed sport horses in one of the most iconic equestrian nations in the world.

Riders will receive daily coaching from international showjumper Steffen Hauter, a five-time German Nations Cup Team member known for his exceptional technical insight and passion for rider development. With a focus on both performance and progression, the tour includes immersive daily clinics, a fun and supportive training show, and expert-led seminars on mental skills, course walking, and competition preparation.

Beyond the arena, this experience delivers plenty of cultural highlights — including visits to one of the largest tack stores in the region, curated sightseeing excursions, and the unforgettable opportunity to spectate at the legendary CSI Aachen, widely revered as the “Wimbledon of equestrian sport.”

The Trainer - Steffen Hauter

Based in Grossteinhausen, Germany, Steffen Hauter is an international showjumper and five-time member of the German Nations Cup Team. Fluent in both German and English, Steffen has claimed numerous international Grand Prix victories and is globally renowned as a trainer. He regularly conducts clinics in the USA, Mexico, UAE, Jordan, Luxembourg, and across Europe, bringing a wealth of elite-level experience to every rider he works with.

The Facilities 

Daily training takes place just 15 minutes from your accommodation at the meticulously maintained, state-of-the-art Hauter Horses facility. Designed to provide an exceptional environment for both horse and rider, the property features:

  • A large outdoor arena
     

  • An indoor arena
     

  • Scenic recreational hacking trails
     

Whether you're fine-tuning your technique or enjoying a relaxed hack, these world-class facilities offer the ideal setting for progress and enjoyment.

The Horses 

As this is a professional working stable, the lease horses available are a carefully selected mix of quality show jumping mounts, ranging from talented young prospects to experienced competitors.

 

The Location - Grossteinhausen, Germany

Nestled in the heart of the Rhineland-Palatinate, Grossteinhausen is a charming village known for its peaceful countryside, traditional architecture, and natural beauty. It offers the perfect environment for focused training and unwinding, while its close proximity to historic cities and scenic wine regions makes it a cultural gem for those wanting to explore beyond the barn.

 

The Accommodation

You’ll be staying in Zweibrücken, just 15 minutes from the training stables and within walking distance to the town center. The hotel features a fantastic on-site restaurant, with a sister eatery and beer garden just 100 metres away. Set alongside the renowned Rose Garden, it offers a lovely blend of nature, comfort, and convenience.

For those looking to add a touch of luxury, Kloster Hornbach is a beautiful alternative. Located a short drive away, this 4-star superior hotel is set within a restored Benedictine monastery and offers an unmatched atmosphere of serenity and elegance.

The Logistics

The base package includes hotel-style accommodation in a comfortable standard twin-share room, with single occupancy and superior upgrade options available upon request for those seeking additional privacy or luxury.

Throughout the tour, a dedicated Chef d’equipe will be on hand to support riders both in and out of the saddle, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable experience from start to finish.

In the lead-up to your departure, the GAT team and our official travel partners will provide comprehensive administrative support, including assistance with flights, accommodation, insurance, and logistics, so you can focus on what matters most — your riding and the experience of a lifetime.

  • USD $8899 ($8699 Early Bird Rate**)

  • The price estimate excludes flights and travel insurance and includes accommodation, horse lease, horse transport, training competition entry, stabling, attendance at CSI Aachen, venue transfers, any included sightseeing, some meals (breakfast, welcome and farewell dinner), plus accompanying Chef d'equipe.

  • This cost is based on current charges and exchange rates and is an estimate only

  • USD $4799 ($4499 Early Bird Rate**)

  • The price estimate excludes flights and travel insurance and includes accommodation, some meals (breakfast, welcome and farewell dinner), venue transfers, attendance at CSI Aachen, any included sightseeing activities, plus accompanying Chef d'equipe

Terms and conditions
  • Riders under 18 at the time of the tour must be accompanied by an adult

  • A full list of tour terms and conditions can be provided on request. This will form part of your pre-travel documentation to be signed before departure
