In 2026, the Global Amateur Tour heads to Bavaria, Germany, for an exceptional once-in-a-lifetime Winter Edition that brings together elite showjumping, international sport, alpine beauty, seasonal festivities, and world-class wellness. Set within one of Germany’s most prestigious equestrian regions, this immersive experience is designed for riders seeking both sporting excellence and refined European winter charm.

 

This intimate, small-group tour is open to all levels and offers the rare opportunity to train on top-quality borrowed sport horses at Gugler Sport Horses, one of Germany’s leading showjumping facilities. Riders receive personalised coaching from Dietmar Gugler, former international Grand Prix showjumper and National Trainer of the German Junior and Young Rider Showjumping Teams, renowned for his technical expertise and rider-focused approach.

 

Beyond daily training, the experience extends to the pinnacle of European indoor sport, with two days spectating at Amadeus Horse Indoors in Salzburg, Austria. This iconic event delivers world-class competition, electric atmosphere, luxurious accommodation and unrivalled inspiration, completing a winter equestrian experience of true distinction.

Horse level available: Up to 1.40m

Training groups will be structured according to rider experience and goals.

 

The Riding & Training Programme

Daily training is led by the highly respected Dietmar Gugler and his team from Gugler Sport Horses.

Dietmar Gugler brings decades of elite experience to the programme. After joining the stable of Paul Schockemöhle in 1995, he qualified as a Pferdewirtschaftsmeister (accredited Master of Horse Management) and later served as National Trainer of the German Junior and Young Rider Showjumping Teams, leading riders to 28 championship medals, including nine European Championship gold medals. He was awarded the German Equestrian Cross in Silver for his contribution to youth sport and also represented Germany in 13 Nations Cup appearances.

Together, Dietmar and his team deliver a classical, systematic training approach focused on:

  • Correct flatwork and rideability
     

  • Balance, rhythm, and adjustability
     

  • Technical showjumping exercises adapted for indoor arenas
     

  • Confidence, consistency, and decision-making
     

  • Individual feedback within small group sessions
     

The Facilities

Training takes place on site at Gut Ising, a meticulously maintained equestrian estate offering:

The Horses

As a professional sport-horse operation, Gugler Sport Horses provides a carefully selected group of quality showjumping horses for the tour.

Horses range from experienced competition mounts to talented younger horses, chosen for their rideability, education, and suitability for amateur riders seeking progression in a safe, supportive environment.
 

Accommodation  

Accommodation is on site at Gut Ising Wellness Hotel, offering riders and supporters a seamless blend of comfort, convenience, and recovery.

Recreational facilities:

The extensive area in the midst of the charming foothills of the Alps is an oasis with inexhaustible leisure and relaxation opportunities for every season. If you want to be active in sports, you have the choice between horseback riding, golf, tennis, bowling and of course the numerous hiking and biking trails that are embedded in the beautiful foothills of the Alps. A break in the Gut Ising Spa & wellness and culinary delights in three restaurants round off our offers.

 

International Sport Highlight

A key highlight of the tour is spectating at the Amadeus International Horse Show, one of Europe’s premier indoor winter showjumping events.

Set against the stunning backdrop of Salzburg in winter, this event attracts world-class riders and elite horses and offers riders invaluable exposure to top-level European sport.

Winter Activities & Cultural Experiences

Beyond training, the Germany Winter Tour offers a full European winter lifestyle experience, including:

  • Visits to traditional Bavarian Christmas markets
     

  • Glühwein, festive food, and handcrafted gifts

The Logistics 

The base package includes hotel-style accommodation at the beautiful wellness resort of Gut Ising in a comfortable standard twin-share room, with single occupancy and superior upgrade options available upon request for those seeking additional privacy or luxury.

 

Throughout the tour, your dedicated Chef d’equipes will be on hand to support riders both in and out of the saddle, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable experience from start to finish.

In the lead-up to your departure, the GAT team will provide comprehensive administrative support, including assistance with travel information to help you book your flights and insurance, and logistics, so you can focus on what matters most - your riding and the experience of a lifetime.


Supporters & Spectators

As with all GAT tours, riders are welcome to bring official supporters to share in the experience. Supporters enjoy the same fully-concierged itinerary, just without the riding component. Riders can easily add supporters when completing their application.

For GAT Germany Winter Edition, we’re also offering a limited number of spectator spots. So even if you’re not travelling with a rider, you can still join the excitement and experience everything this incredible tour has to offer in Germany.

Rider cost:

  • The price includes accommodation, some meals (daily breakfast, welcome, and farewell dinner), horse lease, training, stabling, some sightseeing activities, venue transfers, and accompanying Chef d'equipe

  • The price excludes flights, airport transfers and travel insurance

  • This cost is based on current charges and exchange rates and is an estimate only

  • Final pricing will be confirmed to all applicants prior to tour selection

 

Supporter cost:
  • EURO approximately €5000-€6500

  • The price estimate includes accommodation, some meals (daily breakfast, welcome, and farewell dinner), venue transfers, some sightseeing activities, and an accompanying Chef d'equipe

  • The price excludes flights, airport transfers, and travel insurance. 

  • This cost is based on current charges and exchange rates and is an estimate only

  • Final pricing will be confirmed to all applicants prior to tour selection

 

Terms and conditions:
  • Any riders under 18 at the time of the tour need to be accompanied by a guardian over 18

  • A full list of tour terms and conditions can be provided on request. This will form part of your pre-travel documentation to be signed before departure

  • Dates are approximate and subject to change

  • All selections for the tour are at the discretion of the Global Amateur Tour

  • ** Early bird pricing is available to those who apply before February 20th, 2026

 

This tour is in pre-release, so we are taking expressions of interest only. 

Completing the expression of interest form does not commit you to anything. Our tours are by invitation only, so all riders need to apply and be selected first.

 We will open the application process in January, with a preference given to those who complete this form.
