GAT Mexico Day 2

Day 2 of competition at GAT Mexico 2024 has seen another day of our riders shining on the international stage!

The day started with Katrin Redetzki on her borrowed mount, KATARINA VAN´T HUKA Z (Germany ) riding a fantastic double clear to finish 3rd  in the Masters High.

Co-Chef d’Equipe’s Lucy Olphert Showjumping and Paxton Conder were kept on their toes with adjacent ring clashes for the Global Amateur Tour and Masters/Children Low. Thank you to Ross Smith (Ross N Mel Smith) for lending a hand and expertise in the warm-up.

First out in the Masters Low was Liz Welch (New Zealand ) riding an incredible redemption round to finish 5th place. Michelle Coombes (New Zealand ) had a tough second day after a great placing in Round 1. The ever-consistent, Karen Owen’s (Great Britain ) and MEZCAL rode another great round to the podium to finish 3rd and Alison Johnson (USA ) rode a great clear round to finish in 2nd. Poise Sutherland (Australia ) finished back in the ribbons with a speedy jump-off to secure 9th place in the Children’s Low.

Over to Ring 1 for the Global Amateur Tour, Round 2 saw great rounds from Amy Evans (Great Britain ) and Sky Hosie (Australia ) both lightly rolling an unlucky pole to finish on 4 faults in phase 1 of competition.

April Davies (Australia ) rode another eye-watering double clear on her borrowed mount, HUATABAMPO - INSPIRACION to finish just out of the placings in 11th.

“I'm eternally grateful for this experience. Having a taste of what international competition is like is giving me a new sense of motivation to really take my training to the next level when I get back home!” - April Davies
